Community music sites are great fun but I'm thinking a lot of regular folks don't know about them or even look for them.

And a lot of good work from some incredibly talented independent creative artists isn't getting hardly any exposure.

(Unless you call reviewing music just to get yours heard "exposure"...)

It's my goal to target the folks who surf the web looking for free music for their Ipod and what not - and simply get a foot in their door.

You'll notice this site is geared toward giving away Free MP3s.

And that's what I'm optimizing the search engines to see; Free MP3s.

Of course I wanna sell my stuff, but there's waaaaay more people looking for free MP3s than for my dumb stuff.
 
So I'm giving away lots of media in order to get some traffic to this site.

And if you wanna contribute and help bring traffic this way -
then we all win.

So I'm offering up a free profile page, file hosting, and reciprocal links to the home pages or stores of interested artists.

Here's how I think it works:

First of all, I want to finish building the site; which will take a while.

Then I need to find out about the legalities of hosting your stuff and prepare a suitable agreement.

I'm thinking I'd ask you to send a .zip file via yousendit or sendthisfile containing:

- an artist description.txt
- 150w x 200h .jpg or .gif photo (or art of some sort)
- 3 zipped MP3s
- and the URL you want linked to.

Send stuff you want to give away to promote your "really good stuff".

All I ask in return is a link from your home page back to my home page.

I would need to rebuild the Downloads pages - but it's no biggie.

In addition to hosting music & videos, I also ask you to submit lots of semi-clean jokes, stories, poems, and what not.

Everything I use will be credited to you, unless it's anonymous...

So whadda ya think?
